Car museums in Germany? Why not!
Germany has very often been hailed the "king of car makers". Karl Benz, the father of the modern automobile, got most of the glory but now, German cars are renowned all over the world with notable names like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen. As a matter of fact, such impressive fine art in vehicle building is displayed in different car museums around the country.
If you don't know where to start, let us first walk you through the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, which is not only famous for its state-of-the-art car exhibitions, but also for the impressive architecture that never failed to set its visitors in awe.
Enjoy a close-up experience of the history of Porsche. Encounter legendary racing and sports cars, fascinating production models as well as unusual prototypes. More than 80 vehicles will take you from the early years all the way to the present days of Porsche’s history.
In addition to world-famous, iconic vehicles such as the 356, 550, 911, and 917, the exhibits include some of the outstanding technical achievements of Professor Ferdinand Porsche from the early 20th century.
The five levels of the museum, encompassing a floor area of 5,600 square meters / 60,000 square feet, are interconnected by an impressive ramp. Along with exhibition spaces, the museum’s building, fully accessible to people with disabilities, includes a library, a conference room, a restaurant, a cafe, and a shop.
The permanent exhibition is divided into three main sections: one dedicated to the history of the brand before 1948; one, chronologically arranged, which presents road and sports vehicles produced by Porsche after 1948, and a third one, entitled Porsche Idea which connects the two historical sections by depicting various themes.
