MOST GORGEOUS BEACHES IN LATIN AMERICA (Part 2)

Summer is not over yet. Sunshine and salty freshy water are still calling to us everyday. So, are you ready to explore more stunning and breath-taking beaches in Latin America? Remember to note them down for places you’ve got to visit once in your life. Though this continent seems pretty far, who knows, if you dream big enough, you’ll get there soon.

Ica, Peru

The coast near the oasis town of Ica in southern Peru is ruggedly romantic: outback-dry desert interspersed with rolling dunes running to dramatic craggy cliffs and long sweeps of sand. You’ll see more sea lions than people on the beaches – the most accessible of which lie around the little resort Paracas: where honey-yellow and coral-red bays are pounded by powerful Pacific waves. But at an average 15○C the water is too cold for swims without a wetsuit.

Punta del Diablo, Uruguay

If you like a beach holiday with boho vibes, we reckon you’ll love Punta del Diablo in Uruguay. It’s not only nationals hitting the waves in summer – Argentinians roll up from across the border for fun in the sun, too. The name translates as the Devil’s Tip, but the living’s not what you’d call hot and naughty in this textbook South American surf town. Quite the opposite – it’s laid back in the extreme. Compared to Uruguay’s famously flashy Punta del Este, this place is a peaceful perfection.

Montañita, Ecuador

Locals and tourists flock to Montanita, Ecuador, a small coastal town along the country’s southern coast known for its unique combination of friendly people, idyllic unspoiled sands, world-class surfing, island and mountain natural reserves. From its origins as a hippie beach destination in the 1960s to its present-day reputation as a surfing hotspot, Montanita is a top destination in Ecuador that has been luring tourists and expats to its golden shores for decades. This is also the only place in the country where it isn’t illegal to smoke marijuana and locals voice approval to same-sex couples who show public affection, something that would be frowned just about anywhere else in Ecuador. With its liberal attitude, inexpensive accommodations and great, cheap eats, many people find it hard to leave.

Punta Tombo, Argentina

At Punta Tombo, you probably won’t want to lie down on the sand with a drink in your hand underneath a gently swaying palm, in fact, there are no trees here. But there are penguins and lots of them. The beach is part of the Punta Tombo National Reserve in south Patagonia and the home to a half-million Magellanic penguins. To get here, you’ll have to endure a dusty, 90-minute drive from Trelew, but with the penguins in massive numbers looking like a vast military brigade made up of tiny soldiers – along with the occasional armadillo and the dainty llama-like guanacos, this stretch of sand makes for an unforgettable nature lover’s paradise.

Corn Island, Nicaragua

The Corn Islands, Nicaragua are a hidden gem of Central American beaches in the Caribbean, located off the coast of Nicaragua. They are made up of two islands – Big Corn and Little Corn Islands. Visiting the Corn Islands is one of the best things to do in Nicaragua by far! These two islands are off-the-radar, with the main means of visiting being a flight from Managua. There aren’t any chain hotels or restaurants on the islands as there aren’t too many tourists visiting. On Little Corn Island, there are no cars and it is only accessible via boat from Big Corn Island! Both islands have stunning examples of Central American beaches all around the perimeter. From anywhere around the islands, you can head out onto the sand with no one around. You are able to jump in the water, swim, and snorkel undisturbed. It feels like a private Caribbean island escape!
